Introducing the Histoir!

My Swan Lake Life

"Combining an heroic memoir of her strong, hardworking, proud family with events in American history, Louise Blocker pens a riveting histoir—a history plus memoir—tracing her family from the early 1700s through the present, enhanced with literature and music to accompany every dramatic development shared in each spellbinding chapter.  Spiced with humor and compassion, My Swan Lake Life is poised to become an American classic.”  Susan Morrison, M.A. of Camarillo, CA.

Meet Ms. Louise Blocker

The last born of eleven, Louise Blocker made  her way from the plantation in Swan Lake, Mississippi, to Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree cum laude enabled her to begin her career as a language arts and social studies teacher in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to contribute two prayers to Book of Prayers by Holman United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, California; and to introduce a new genre of literature, the histoir, (hiss-twär) with the publication of My Swan Lake Life.

Accompaniments for My Swan Lake Life

The only histoir on the market, My Swan Lake Life has titles of songs in the “Accompaniments” that follow each chapter—a means for readers to interact by searching for the songs online, listening to the music, and “Dancing on the Ceiling.” For now, enjoy a sample of the selections here; and please come back for periodic updates.
